Recap: DePaul vs. Georgetown

Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Markel Starks scored 26 points to carry the Georgetown Hoyas to a 71-59 triumph over the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East battle at Allstate Arena.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera added 17 points, Jabril Trawick chipped in 15 off the bench and Nate Lubick secured 10 rebounds for Georgetown (13-9, 4-6 Big East), which has won back-to-back games.

Brandon Young had 15 points to lead DePaul (10-13, 2-8), which has lost five straight. Billy Garrett tacked on 12 points, R.J. Currington finished with 10 and Tommy Hamilton cleared 10 boards.

DePaul managed to take a 30-27 lead at halftime. The Blue Demons connected on 43.5 percent from the field in the first half, while holding Georgetown to 30 percent.

The Hoyas took over in the second half, sinking 45 percent from the field and 23-of-28 at the free-throw line. DePaul only had nine points from the free- throw line and as many total field goals in the frame.

Georgetown had a 23-3 scoring edge off of turnovers.
