Tacoma Chick-fil-A to start construction in August, open early 2015

Tacoma News TribuneFebruary 4, 2014

Tacoma's first Chick-fil-A, a Georgia-based fast-food chicken restaurant, will open in early 2015, a company spokesman said.

Construction on the site, at South 38th and Steele streets near the Tacoma Mall, will begin in August, said Jerry Johnston via email.

Earlier this month, the City of Tacoma approved variances to its design rules to allow the restaurant to have a drive-through.

According to city documents, the restaurant will be 4,500 square feet and able to seat 111 people. Chick-fil-A will build 13 parking spaces on the site itself and will cut a deal with a nearby property owner, presumably the lot used by Ashley Furniture store, for 20 more spaces.
