With the Seattle Seahawks leading the Denver Broncos 22-0 at halftime Sunday, Color Graphics Vice President Kiley Gustafson decided he’d better get his screen printing equipment warmed up, just in case the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII.

They did win — and in convincing fashion — which suddenly meant that Gustafson, his wife and about seven other employees faced the task of printing 7,500 official NFL T-shirts commemorating the Seahawks’ victory.

By 8 p.m. Sunday, the staff and machines were under way, and 14 hours later, finishing just after 10 a.m. Monday, they had completed their work, averaging about 500 shirts an hour.

About 10:15 a.m., the final boxes of long- and short-sleeve shirts rolled out of the production area, headed to Olympia-area Walmart and Target stores, said Voshte Demmert-Gustafson, president of Color Graphics.

“We’re just happy that we were able to be part of this,” she said.

Color Graphics, a 30-year-old Tumwater-based business that calls Mottman Industrial Park home, printed the navy T-shirts for VF Imagewear, a company that works closely with the NFL, Demmert-Gustafson said.

The shirts feature an official NFL hologram sticker, as well as an image of the Lombardi trophy and lettering that says: “Super Bowl XLVIII Champions Seattle Seahawks.”

They also finished the printing job faster than expected, estimating Sunday night that it would take 15 to 20 hours.

Color Graphics, which is also known for embroidery, awards and promotional products, was formed in 1984 by Fred and Debbie Gustafson, Kiley’s parents. The two are now retired.
