Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Taylor scored 20 points as the Utah Utes easily defeated the Washington Huskies, 78-69, in a Pac-12 showdown at the Huntsman Center.
Delon Wright logged 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting with five assists, while Jordan Loveridge registered a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards for the Utes (15-7, 4-6 Pac-12), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
C.J. Wilcox had 20 points for the Huskies (13-10, 5-5), who have lost two straight games. Nigel Williams-Goss added 19 points and Desmond Simmons tallied 14 and six rebounds. Andrew Andrews finished with six assists.
Utah connected on 50 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half, and made 10-of-14 from the free-throw line, and led 31-30 at the intermission. Washington shot 36.4 percent on field goal tries but attempted 13 more shots than the Utes.
The Utes were on fire in the second period as they drained 68 percent of their shots from the field. After a back-and-forth start to the half, Utah took over after the Utes tied the game up at 51-51 with 11:14 remaining. They went on an 11-0 run over the next five and a half minutes, and the Huskies would never get within more than four points again.
Utah attempted 31 free-throws, where Washington got to the line just nine times. The Utes also had the edge in points in the paint, 40-26.
