Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kerry Carter tallied 20 points and Beau Levesque registered a double-double as the Saint Mary's Gaels coasted to a 77-58 victory over the Loyola Marymount Lions in a West Coast Conference clash at Gersten Pavilion.
Levesque totaled 17 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for Saint Mary's (17-7, 7-4 WCC), which ended a two-game skid. Stephen Holt chipped in 17 points and Brad Waldow dropped in 12.
Evan Payne paced Loyola Marymount (11-13, 3-9) with 17 points. Anthony Ireland tacked on 13 points and Alex Osborne had 10. The Lions have lost nine of their last 10.
At halftime Saint Mary's led, 37-31. The Gaels shot 58.3 percent from the floor in the frame, including a 5-of-9 effort from 3-point range. Loyola Marymount shot an even 50 percent overall, but got just 1-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc to fall.
The Gaels kept up the hot shooting after the break, netting 58.6 percent from the floor. The Lions could not keep up, shooting 36.7 percent in the final 20 minutes.
Saint Mary's had a 32-14 advantage on points in the paint.
