Lakewood police officer involved in car accident

An on-duty Lakewood police officer was struck this morning by a woman who ran a red light, the department said.

The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Steilacoom Boulevard SW and Ardmore Drive SW.

Alwine said the officer was traveling toward the intersection when the other driver ran a red light and struck the patrol car.

The officer was not injured. The woman allegedly complained of shoulder pain. Damage to the patrol car was not immediately known.
