Tacoma man arrested for allegedly assaulting infant son

Staff writerFebruary 10, 2014

A Tacoma man was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting his 5-month-old son after an argument with the boy’s mother.

The 33-year-old man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree child assault.

Police were called to the couple’s home Sunday morning after the mother returned home and found the baby in his crib, bruised and not breathing.

The couple argued Saturday and the man asked the woman to leave, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said. On Sunday morning, the man called the mother and told her to come home to care for their son.

It's unclear what exactly happened to the boy, who is expected to live.
