Morning update: Session Day 30

Staff reportFebruary 11, 2014

Legislative Building in Olympia. taken June10,2013

STEVE BLOOM — The Olympian.

Tuesday is the halfway point of the legislative session.

With only 30 days left, lawmakers in the House and Senate are still struggling to find a compromise on a variety of issues, including a supplemental operating budget. Legislators have until Feb. 18 to pass bills out of their house of origin.

Some of the fiscal committees in the House and Senate will meet in a last-minute effort to approve bills under their consideration. Except for measures necessary to implement the budget, bills not voted out of a fiscal committee by 5 p.m. will be dead for this session.
