Man jumps from Tacoma SR 16 overpass, has no signs of significant injuries

Staff writerFebruary 12, 2014

A man who jumped from a state Route 16 overpass Wednesday morning in Tacoma and landed on Center Street about 75 feet below had no signs of significant injuries after, State Patrol spokesman Guy Gill said.

Gill did not know the man's condition Wednesday night, but said fairly deep beauty bark seemed to soften the 21-year-old's landing when he jumped just after 11 a.m.

He was conscious and alert when he was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, Gill said.

Multiple witnesses called the State Patrol about the jump, he said.

They reported that the man had been driving, pulled the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road, and jumped from the overpass.
