San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kamryn Williams scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Air Force Falcons held on down the stretch to defeat the San Jose State Spartans, 51-48, in Mountain West Conference action at the Event Center.
Marek Olesinski netted 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Air Force (10-13, 4-8 MW), while Max Yon contributed 11 points in the win. The Falcons ended a six-game losing streak with the victory.
Devante Wilson tallied 15 points to lead San Jose State (6-18, 0-12), which has yet to win a Mountain West Conference game. Chris Cunningham notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the loss, which was the 12th in a row for the Spartans.
Air Force shot just 39.3 percent from the floor in the first half, but went 6- of-14 from 3-point range, and took a 29-22 lead into the intermission. San Jose State shot a dismal 29.2 percent from the field in the frame.
The Falcons' shooting percentage took a dip down to 26.7 percent in the second half, not helped by 1-of-8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. The Spartans improved their touch to 31 percent in the period, but could only make up four points from the seven-point halftime deficit.
Air Force had the edge in points off turnovers, 17-7, and in 3-point scoring, 21-15. The Spartans won the battle in second chance points, 10-2, and in bench scoring, 15-7.
