Cole Porter at Centerstage for Valentine’s Day

Spread the Valentine’s Day love with a concert of Cole Porter songs this weekend at Centerstage Theater. Purple Phoenix Productions presents the world premiere of “True Love: The Cole Porter Love Songbook,” with Seattle-based singers backed by the nine-piece Purple Phoenix Orchestra (led by David Duvall) singing Porter hits like “It’s De-Lovely,” “Begin the Beguine” and “My Heart Belongs to Daddy.” 8 p.m. Feb. 15, 2 p.m. Feb. 16. $20 general/$15 seniors, students. Salish Sea Festival: J.S. and C.P.E. Bach

The Salish Sea Festival brings together father-son composers J.S. and C.P.E. Bach in their next concert. Featuring baroque orchestra Simphonie Nouvelle, German harpsichordist Hans Jürgen and other local soloists, the program includes J.S. Bach’s popular Brandenburg Concerto no. 5 and Flute Suite in B minor, plus harpsichord and flute concerti by Bach’s son Carl Philipp Emanuel, in time for the composer’s tricentenary year. 7 p.m. Feb. 20. Art+Science Salon at TAM

The Art+Science Salon, bringing together artists and scientists and organized by the University of Puget Sound, celebrates its first anniversary this month. The featured artist is UCLA design media professor Victoria Vesna, a pioneer in the field who has collaborated with nanoscientists, ecologists and neuroscientists (including UPS’ Siddarth Ramakrishna, who now co-organizes Tacoma’s salon). 6-8 p.m. Feb. 20.
