Boy shot in leg in Tacoma, injuries appear to be minor

Staff writerFebruary 13, 2014

A boy police believe to be 13-years-old was shot in the leg in Tacoma and taken to the hospital Thursday, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

Cool said the boy's injuries appeared to be minor.

Witnesses who saw the boy limping called 911, and firefighters responded about 2:45 p.m. to South 47th Street and South Oakes Street.

Officers were looking for a 19-year-old man they thought may have been involved in the shooting, Cool said. He was described as black, 5 foot 7, slim, with a short afro. He was wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.

Further details were not immediately available.
