Ruston, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 17 points from Kenyon McNeail, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs routed the Rice Owls, 85-46, in a Conference USA bout at Thomas Assembly Center.
For the Bulldogs (21-5, 9-2 C-USA), Chris Anderson added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Isaiah Massey and Jaron Johnson each finished with 12 points and Kenneth Smith dished out 11 assists.
Austin Ramljak and Max Guercy each scored nine points to lead the Owls (7-17, 2-9). Ramljak added six rebounds to his stat line.
Tech shot 45.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 7-of-16 from beyond the arc, as the Bulldogs took a comfortable lead into halftime, 42-17. They held Rice to just 36.4 percent shooting in the first, as the Owls missed all nine of their 3-point tries in the half.
After the break, the Owls were a much better shooting team from deep, making 5-of-10 from 3-point range, but still managed to shoot just 40 percent from the field. Tech was even better in the second than the first, connecting on 52 percent of its field goal tries, though the Bulldogs did have trouble from long-range, missing all but one of their nine attempts from 3-point distance. Tech cruised in the second half, going ahead by as many as 41 points, as the outcome was never in doubt.
Tech dominated in the frontcourt, outscoring Rice in the paint, 40-18, and outrebounding the Owls, 41-24. The Bulldogs also scored 25 points off of 23 Rice turnovers.
