TACOMA: I-5 exit to northbound I-705 to shut late Tuesday

February 17, 2014

The northbound Interstate 5 exit to northbound Interstate 705 will close Tuesday night while crews work on a bridge seismic retrofit project, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The 10 p.m. closure will allow crews to move equipment being used to bring I-5 bridges at M Street and in the I-705/state Route 7 interchange into compliance with earthquake standards.

The exit will reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers will be detoured onto state Route 7 and back to the city center.
