One dead, one critical after car strikes pole in Auburn

One person was killed and another critically injured Sunday night when a car struck a telephone pole on Lea Hill in the Auburn area.

Three other people sustained minor injuries in the single-car accident, the Valley Regional Fire Authority said.

The accident took place at 10:10 p.m. in the 11300 block of Southeast 320th Street. The car hit the telephone pole, which ripped off its rear door, the fire authority said. Two occupants may have been ejected.

One person was dead at the scene. Another was in critical condition and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  Three people with less serious injuries also were taken to Harborview.

Auburn police are investigating the accident.
