Lawmakers to hold Pierce County town halls this weekend

Several members of the Legislature and at least one member of Congress plan to talk to constituents this weekend at town hall meetings in Pierce County. Most are planned for Saturday.

Here's the list so far. We'll update as we learn of more.

Five Republicans will be at the Graham Fire Station on Saturday. Sen. Randi Becker, Rep. J.T. Wilcox and Rep. Graham Hunt all represent the mostly rural 2nd District in Pierce and Thurston counties, including Graham, Eatonville and Yelm. Sen. Steve O'Ban and Rep. Dick Muri represent the 28th District including Joint Base Lewis-McChord, University Place, Fircrest and parts of Lakewood and Tacoma. The meeting is at 23014 70th Ave. E. in Graham from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Lawmakers will have coffee and cookies for guests.

Three Democrats plan their Saturday town hall in Jason Lee Middle School's cafeteria. Sen. Jeannie Darneille, Rep. Laurie Jinkins and Rep. Jake Fey all represent Tacoma's 27th District. The event is at 602 N. Sprague Ave. in Tacoma and runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with sign-in starting at 9:30.

Two lawmakers will hold a Friday town hall in Gig Harbor and a Saturday town hall on the Key Peninsula. 26th District Reps. Larry Seaquist, a Democrat, and Jesse Young, a Republican, represent parts of Pierce and Kitsap counties. The Friday event is in Peninsula High School's auditorium, 14105 Purdy Dr NW, Gig Harbor from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Key Peninsula event is at the Key Center Library, 8905 Key Peninsula Hwy N, Lakebay, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The pair also plans meetings Saturday in Bremerton and Port Orchard.

A town hall for Sen. Steve Conway, a 29th District Democrat, will be at Garfield Book Company, the Pacific Lutheran University bookstore. That's at 208 Garfield St S #101 in Parkland. The event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Conway represents parts of Tacoma, Lakewood, Parkland and Spanaway.

25th District residents can choose from several town halls Saturday, including two at the Puyallup library at 324 S Meridian. Rep. Dawn Morrell, a Democrat, will hold her event at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Sen. Bruce Dammeier, a Republican, will have his event at the same location at 2 p.m. Dammeier also plans an 11 a.m. event at the Fife Library at 6622 20th St. Morrell will also be at the Fife Community Center, 2111 54th Ave E., from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and the Midland Community Center, 1614 99th St E., from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Finally, if federal issues are more to your interest, U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer plans a Tacoma town hall at 11 a.m. Saturday. It's at the University of Puget Sound's Commencement Hall, 1500 N. Warner St.
