Staff writerFebruary 18, 2014

A man who was shot Sunday night after allegedly driving a stolen car near Frederickson died Monday afternoon.

The shooting victim was driving the car with two passengers, said Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer. At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the occupants of the stolen vehicle and those in a pickup truck got into an altercation in a parking lot near Canyon Road East and 176th Street East.

Other occupants of the victim’s car fled on foot after the shooting, Troyer said. The alleged shooter left the scene in a rented pickup truck. Two or more people, including the driver, were in that vehicle, Troyer said.

“This was not a random shooting,” Troyer said.

As of Monday afternoon, next of kin had not been notified.
