Seahawks signs WR Chris Matthews out of CFL

The Seahawks have signed wide receiver Chris Matthews to a 2014 future contract, the team announced today.

Matthews spent the past two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League, recording 95 receptions for 1,330 yards and eight touchdowns during his time there. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award winner following the 2012 season.

Matthews played at the University of Kentucky from 2009-2010 before being signed by the Cleveland Browns on July 30, 2011, but was released Sept. 3, 2011.
