Recap: Wyoming vs. Fresno State

Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by a game-high 26 points from Nathan Sobey, the Wyoming Cowboys tamed the Fresno State Bulldogs, 72-66, in a Mountain West Conference tilt at Arena Auditorium.

For the Cowboys (17-9, 8-5 MWC), winners of three-straight, Larry Nance Jr. added 17 points and Josh Adams chipped in with 10 points.

Tyler Johnson scored a team-high 24 points for the Bulldogs (13-14, 6-8), who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. Marvelle Harris finished with 18 points and Cezar Guerrero scored 13 in a losing effort.

Both squads struggled from the floor to start the game. Wyoming was the better of the two, shooting 37 percent from the field, but missing all six 3-point tries. The Cowboys were still able to take a 25-23 lead into the break as the Bulldogs were even worse from the field, shooting just 30.8 percent, including 1-of-4 from beyond the arc.

After the break, the Cowboys got hot, connecting on 52.9 percent of their field goal tries. The Bulldogs improved to 44.8 percent from the field and 2- of-7 from 3-point range. With the game tied at 40-40, the Cowboys ran off seven-straight points to take the lead for good.

Both teams scored the bulk of their points at the charity stripe, with the Cowboys ending up with a 33-21 scoring advantage at the free-throw line. The Bulldogs had the edge in points in the paint, 28-24.
