Fundraiser to be held Friday for Midland-area church burned twice in arsons

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will host a concert Friday for a Midland-area church that was destroyed Feb. 10 in the second arson since September.

Golgotha Moldavian Baptist Church’s 300-member congregation has been meeting at Gloria Dei Lutheran in Tacoma since the first fire caused $1 million in damages.

A man is awaiting trial for that fire. No suspects have been identified in the second arson.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. Friday at Gloria Dei, 3315 S. 19th St., and will feature a country western/bluegrass band from Port Townsend called Gospel Opry.

During the intermission and at a reception afternoon, a donation plate will be sent around to benefit Golgotha Moldavian Baptist Church.

Gloria Dei's pastor, the Rev. Mark Woldseth, said the fundraiser is to "demonstrate our solidarity with and support for Golgotha Baptist Church."
