Get smile polished: Free dental care for kids, teens

Go to South Hill Mall for free dental care for kids and teens

Staff writerFebruary 21, 2014

Dental screenings, healthy teeth items and fun activities are planned for Saturday’s Children’s Dental Health Day.

Don’t let a lack of funds keep your children from regular dental care. The Pierce County Dental Society is holding its 23rd Annual Children’s Dental Health Day on Saturday at South Hill Mall in the center court.

Children from infant to age 18 can get dental screenings, fluoride varnishes and mouthguards – all free. In addition, there will be gifts, face painting and characters such as the Tooth Fairy, Chompy the Carrot, and Steve the Cartoon Guy to keep children entertained.

Children who bring a drawing of “A Day at the Dentist” can be entered in a contest for a chance to win a membership to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, a family museum pass and Sonicare toothbrushes.

Medical Teams International will have a dental van in the mall’s parking lot for children who need further dental care and meet qualifications.

Children’s Dental Health Days have drawn as many as 1,000 participants, according to the Dental Society.
