Olympia memorial for Ted Bottiger set for Tuesday

Longtime state senator, Tacoma port commissioner, died Jan. 23

The Washington State Senate has announced that it will host a memorial for  former state Sen. Ted Bottiger on Tuesday, Feb. 25th beginning at 2 p.m.

The event will be held in the state Reception Room in the Legislative Building.

The same day the Senate will consider a resolution honoring Bottiger.

Bottiger died Jan. 23 at age 81. Bottiger was first elected to the state House in 1964 from a district centered on South Tacoma. He moved to the Senate in 1972 and served until 1987, the last five years as Senate Majority Leader.

He later was a member of the Northwest Power Planning Council and the Port of Tacoma commission.
