Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Markel Starks poured in 22 points as the Georgetown Hoyas coasted to a 74-52 victory over the Xavier Musketeers in a Big East Conference tilt at the Verizon Center.
Jabril Trawick added 13 points for the Hoyas (16-11, 7-8 Big East) as they snapped a two-game losing streak. Nate Lubick tallied nine points and seven rebounds in the win.
Semaj Christon paced Xavier (18-9, 8-6) with 18 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the floor. Justin Martin contributed 13 points, while Matt Stainbrook scored 12 points.
Georgetown took a 42-26 lead into the intermission after it connected on 56 percent of its field goal attempts and converted 10-of-11 shots at the charity stripe in the opening period. The Musketeers attempted 47.6 percent of its shots from the floor and attempted five less field goals than the host in the first half.
Xavier was limited to 35.3 percent efficiency from the floor including a 1- of-5 clip from 3-point range after the break. The Hoyas sank 47.8 percent of their field goal tries in the second stanza to extend their advantage.
Georgetown tallied 20 points off of the Musketeers' 11 turnovers and finished with a 26-21 advantage in total rebounds.
