Tacoma program helps kids prep for kindergarten

Tacoma Public Schools, Foundation for Tacoma Students, ChildCare Aware of Tacoma/Pierce County, First 5 FUNdamentals of Pierce County and United Way are co-sponsoring a series of events aimed at connecting with local child care providers.

The program, “It’s All About Kids: Building Connections Between Child Care Providers and Schools,” is for child care providers, preschool teachers, kindergarten teachers and principals. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk about preparing children to be ready for and thrive in kindergarten and about paving the way to success in school and life. Dinner will be provided at each event; no child care will be available.

 • 6:30-8 p.m. March 4 at Asia Pacific Cultural Center, 4851 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma; serving Arlington, Birney, Edison, Fern Hill, Larchmont, Manitou Park, Mann and Stafford elementary schools.

 • 6:30-8 p.m. March 11 at Titlow Lodge, 8425 Sixth Ave., Tacoma; serving Downing, Jefferson, Lowell, Point Defiance, Sherman, Skyline and Washington-Hoyt elementary schools.
