Two charged with robbery, assault after shooting in Tacoma

Pierce County prosecutors have charged two men in a robbery that ended Sunday with a man shot in the head.

The victim remained in critical condition Wednesday.

Vaniamin Rusev, 31, and Vossler Blesch, 22, pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of first-degree assault. The men were ordered jailed in lieu of $1 million bail each.

Charging papers gave this account:

The shooting happened after the victim and his brother went to a Tacoma home in the 500 block of East 34th Street to pick up a car for a friend. Rusev and Blesch were at the home.

Rusev welcomed the two visitors inside and then ordered them to remove their shoes, coats and wallets. When he told them to take their pants off, one of the men refused and grabbed Rusev.

Blesch is accused shaking a handgun at the men. The weapon fired one round that grazed Rusev’s ear and hit the victim in the head.

Blesch fled, allegedly ditching two phones and a wallet as he drove away. Police arrived to find the victim’s brother trying to stem the bleeding from the gunshot wound.

Rusev told detectives “he was just trying to scare the victims,” charging papers state.

Blesch said he didn’t know what was going on but was protecting his friend after the victim charged Rusev.
