Pierce Democrats to meet in district caucuses Sunday

Tacoma News TribuneMarch 4, 2014

Democrats in most Pierce County legislative districts meet this weekend to elect delegates and alternatives to attend the state convention in June.

Sunday's caucuses are a prelude to the Spokane convention, where party faithful will debate their political platform and hear from candidates for elected office.

To vote at a legislative district caucus, you must be a registered voter of that legislative district (or a 17-year-old who will be eligible to vote by November). You must also pledge to publicly identify with the Democratic party.

Two legislative districts – the 26th and the 27th – will hold off caucusing until the Pierce County Democratic convention April 12 in Tacoma.

The rest will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the following locations:

2nd Legislative District: Yelm Middle School, 402 W. Yelm Ave, Yelm

25th District: Canyon Terrace Estates Club House, 9312 Canyon Rd E, Puyallup

28th District: Pierce College, HEC 302, 9401 Farwest Dr. Lakewood

29th District: Asia Pacific Cultural Center, 4851 S Tacoma Way, Tacoma

30th District: Federal Way Library, 34200 1st Ave E, Rm 2, Federal Way

31st District: Bonney Lake High School, 10920 199th Ave Ct E, Bonney Lake
