Tacoma man killed in hit-and-run crash on Waller Road

Staff writerMarch 4, 2014

Pierce County sheriff’s investigators are searching for a driver who killed a Tacoma man in a three-car crash Monday morning and fled on foot.

The accident happened just before 6 a.m. in the 400 block of Waller Road.

“We believe the hit-and-run driver crossed the center line and struck the victim head-on,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Douglas Davis, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis worked at The Boeing Company.

A third car crashed into the wreckage. That driver was not seriously injured.

The suspect driver’s Chevrolet Cruze was totaled in the accident but Troyer said the man walked away from the scene. He has not yet been arrested.
