The reward for information about the death of an Orting man shot last month outside his home has increased to $5,000, police said Tuesday.

Michael Compton, 53, was killed Feb. 19 in the 500 block of Ford Lane Southwest, when police believe he interrupted a burglary in his garage.

There have been no updates or arrest in the case, police spokesman James Schlotzhauer said Tuesday.

Community donations have raised the $4,000. The Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers reward for information was initially $1,000, he said. Tips can be called into Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
