The House Local Government Committee will meet Thursday to hear an update on earthquake preparedness in communities across the state. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m.

Supporters of the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance will rally at 10 a.m. on the Legislative Building steps to bring attention to the need for funding for homeless services. Members of the alliance will ring a gong 5,034 times, once for each person that was counted living outside during a 2013 survey by the organization. The group also plans a news conference later in the day with supporters of a blocked proposal to extend fees that go to low-income housing.
