Andrew Schimmels missed a game-tying jumper with three seconds to play, and O’Dea held on for a 47-45 victory over University (Spokane) in the consolation side of the 3A boys basketball tournament.

The Titans had one last chance to tie the game with 4.5 seconds to play. After a pair of fouls to give by O’Dea, University inbounded to Schimmels on the sideline. Schimmels drove for a contested jumper near the free throw line that drew iron as time expired.

Jacob Lampkin led the Fighting Irish with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

“He had a great game,” O’Dea coach Al Hairston said of Lampkin “A double-double, couple of assists. I wouldn’t say it was his best game of the year but it was in the top five for sure.”

O’Dea trailed 42-41 with just under four minutes to play. After a pair of free throws gave the Fighting Irish the lead, Lampkin and Jamar Kemp each converted contested layups to give O’Dea a 47-42 lead with 2:10 remaining.
