The Northwest Avalanche Center rates the risk of avalanche in the Cascades and Olympics as "considerable."

The avalanche risk in the Washington Cascades and Olympics was reduced to "considerable" Friday by the Northwest Avalanche Center.

"Considerable" is the NWAC's third of five classifications for rating avalanche risk. It had listed the risk as "high," it's second highest ranking, for most of the week.

Ski areas continue to warn skiers of deep snow hazards including tree wells.
