GET OUT: Dog show, Tacoma Remodel Expo, gem show, music and dinosaurs

SATURDAY

It’s all about dinosaur fossils at Burke Museum’s annual Dino Day event. Get an up-close view of the museum’s paleontology collections, see and touch fossils, meet paleontologists, try out a fossil dig pit, or enjoy other interactive activities. If there’s a dinosaur lover in the house, this is the place. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the museum, Northwest 45th Street and 17th Avenue Northeast in Seattle.
Activities are included in the museum admission: $10 general; $8 seniors; $7.50 students and kids age 5 and older. For more information, go to

Seattle’s Rae Solomon is known as a country darling with high-energy sass. The former rodeo queen will perform with Aces Up, and Lace and Lead at 8 p.m. Saturday. Head out to Jazzbones, 2803 Sixth Ave., Tacoma for a night of country fun. Tickets are $9.99; get them online or by phone; 253-396-9169,

SUNDAY

If you’re an off-roader and love 4x4 riding, then you’ll want to head out to the 4x4 Offroad and High Performance Meet taking place Sunday at the Washington State Fair Events Center, 119 Ninth Ave. SW in Puyallup.
It’s sponsored by the Spanaway Moonshiner Jeep Club and will include displays, vendors and swap meet on everything 4x4 and high-performance. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with admission of $10 at the blue gate.

 

Playing Dixieland music and Swing era, the Roadstars Jazz Band is a traditional jazz show band. They will perform their nonstop mix of music as part of the Jazz Live at Marine View concert series beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday. The free show for all ages is at Marine View Presbyterian Church, 8469 East Side Drive NE, Tacoma. For more information on the concert series, call 253-229-9208.

Billed as Seattle’s biggest dog event of the year, the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show is Saturday and Sunday at CenturyLink Field Event Center, 1000 Occidental Ave. S., Seattle. Saturday will feature 1,753 dogs in 156 breeds; Sunday will feature 1,721 dogs in 158 breeds. Two new AKC breeds, the rat terrier and the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, will be shown for the first time. There will be demonstration events, agility, obedience and rally.
Hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. both days, with special show tours available from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. both days. Admission is $14 adults; $12 seniors older than 62; $7 children ages 4-14; children younger than 4 are admitted free.
