The O’Dea boys basketball team came out swinging and never let up in the Fighting Irish’s 64-50 win over Stanwood in the Class 3A Hardwood Classic in the Tacoma Dome.

The Irish’s finishes in fourth-place – O’Dea reached this point after losing to Wilson, 60-57, on Thursday and then defeating University 47-45 on Friday.

“We talked after that first loss (Thursday) which was a tough loss,” O’Dea coach Monte Kohler said. “I talked to the kids about the next (few) games will determine your character. It’s not easy to take a tough loss first game of the tournament.”

It was the combination of seniors in Jacob Lampkin (14 points, nine rebounds) and Jamie Orme (20 points, 13 rebounds) that proved too much for the Spartans in the consolation game.

Stanwood was led by Karsten Chaplik who had 15 points while shooting 2-for-3 from the 3-point line. The Spartan’s finished in sixth place.
