Recap: Cal Poly vs. UC Santa Barbara

San Luis Obispo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alan Williams tallied a double- double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos downed the Cal Poly Mustangs, 71-55, in the Big West Conference regular-season finale at Mott Gym.

Williams shot 9-of-14 from the field and added five blocks for UCSB (21-8, 12-4 Big West), which has won three in a row and will act as the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament. Kyle Boswell netted 15 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range, Michael Bryson scored 13 and Zalmico Harmon handed out seven assists.

For Cal Poly (10-19, 6-10), losers of three straight, Chris Eversley was the lone player in double figures with 14 points.

UCSB shot 52.2 percent from the field in the first half, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, as it took a commanding 38-23 lead into intermission. Cal Poly, meanwhile, made a mere 26.9 percent of its tries from the floor.

The Gauchos improved their field goal efficiency to 59.1 percent in the second half and their lead was never in question.

The Mustangs finished the contest only 17-of-57 from the floor (.298).
