Puyallup man suffered heart failure before crashing into store

A Puyallup man who died March 2 after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a Target store first suffered heart failure, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said Kenneth Shannon, 37, was driving on South Meridian and 31st Ave SW when he had a medical emergency, accelerated across all lanes and drove up and over landscaping before striking a Target store.

No one else was injured and there was no damage to the building, Capt. Scott Engle said.
