Browns sign Ben Tate

Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Browns have signed running back Ben Tate.

Terms were not disclosed, but NFL.com said it is a two-year deal.

Tate spent his first three NFL seasons with Houston and last year started seven of the 14 games he played. He rushed for 771 yards with four touchdowns and caught 34 passes for 140 yards last year.

The 25-year-old Auburn product nearly posted 1,000 yards in his rookie season of 2011, finishing with 942 and a 5.4-yard average. He has run for 1,992 yards with 10 touchdowns and a 4.7-yard average in 40 games.
