New model RVs make debut at Tacoma show

Camping The Tacoma RV Show opens for its 30th year Wednesday, bringing motor homes, fifth-wheels, toy haulers and travel trailers to the Tacoma Dome.

This year’s show will include the newest models for 2014 among the more than 250 brands from 17 local dealers. The event also includes parts and accessories vendors,s and RV resort destinations.

Among the models making its debut at the show ill be the Forest River R-Pod 179 travel trailer. Being shown by Poulsbo RV, the R-Pod has a rounded shape and boasts a 78-inch interior height.

Poulsbo RV also will be exhibiting the Phaeton, a diesel-pusher from Tiffin Motorhomes. It comes with four slides, central vacuum system, outside storage compartments with slide trays, power awning and flat panel outside TV.

Valley RV Supercenter will debut the Jayco Redhawk, a 23-foot motor home. The Redhawk is an entry-level Class C vehicle for those looking to step up into a motor home. Standard features include a push-button electric awning, 32-inch LED TV, island queen bed, full cab-over bunk, shower with skylight and sliding rear wall.

Tacoma RV will debut Keystone RV Co.’s 2014 Big Sky Montana. The 36-foot fifth-wheel has features such as a rear queen bed slide, a wardrobe slide with LCD TV, dining table and chairs, a washer, dryer, dishwasher and three-burner range, heat pump and a step-up to a front living area.
