A 35-year-old Tacoma man suffered serious injuries Monday after being stabbed multiple times in the neck.

He was expected to survive, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The attack happened about 5:15 a.m. at the home of the victim’s girlfriend in the 5000 block of South Orchard Street. His girlfriend and two children were in the house at the time. They were not injured.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said a 27-year-old man who used to date the victim's girlfriend kicked in the door and assaulted the new boyfriend.

A tracking dog was used to find the suspect hiding near the house. He was arrested on suspicion of assault and burglary.
