A man who crashed into another vehicle in Tacoma Tuesday night and had to be tased several times because of his erratic behavior was likely on drugs, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
The accident happened about 8 p.m. at South 38th and South Steele streets.
The man ran a red light and hit a woman driving a Miata, then got out of his car and began yelling, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
When police arrived, witnesses said he got back into his car and tried to leave but the vehicle was too badly damaged from the collision.
He allegedly ignored orders by police officers to get out of his car and continued to cuss and scream. Police struck him several times with tasers, which did not work.
The man was arrested after struggling with officers and was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault and resisting arrest.
The woman in the Miata had to be extricated by firefighters and suffered significant injuries. She told police she did not recall what led up to the crash.
