Sold-out State of the City: Tacoma 2.0

Staff writerMarch 19, 2014

The state of the city is …complicated.

Part of the reason is Tacoma doesn't know what or who to be, according to Mayor Marilyn Strickland. She spoke to a crowd of about 250 people in the Hotel Murano Ballroom Wednesday at lunch. Many more wanted to attend the event. You can watch the speech online after the city uploads it. Until then, I give you a compilation of the tweets from the State of the City.

Read the mayor's entire speech below. She improvised quite a bit at the event Wednesday, so the typed speech isn't exact.
