Staff writerMarch 19, 2014

Tacoma Public Utilities said shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday that an equipment failure had led to outages for about 2,300 people in Northeast Tacoma.

The agency's Facebook post about the outage said the equipment malfunction happened at one of the substations.

Crews were working on it, they said, and expected power to be back in a few hours.
