Brief evacuation of West Pierce Fire's 911 call center

A construction crew accidentally set off a fire suppression system at West Pierce Fire’s 911 Communication Center, causing a brief evacuation of the center’s seven employees.

The employees were asked to leave the building when the alarm sounded about 1:20 p.m. All emergency calls were routed to the Tacoma Fire Department.

The Comm Center was up and running normally again at 1:45 p.m., Battalion Chief Hallie McCurdy said.
