Officials with the Daffodil Festival are taking this year's "Ready, Set, Grow" theme literally, down to the selection of the parade grand marshal.

Ciscoe Morris, a well-known local gardening expert, will lead the 81st Annual Daffodil Parade on April 5, the festival announced on its Facebook page Wednesday.

"His expertise, passion for gardening, and humorous demeanor endears him to his audience," officials said in the post. "Ciscoe is the perfect Grand Marshal for the theme."

Morris hosts weekly gardening shows on local television and radio stations, writes garden columns and books, and regularly attends events in the region.

Morris will lead 140 entries in the parade on April 5. They will pass through Tacoma at 10:15 a.m., Puyallup at 12:45 p.m., Sumner at 2:30 p.m. and Orting at 5 p.m.
