Phillies acquire Nix from Rays

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Jayson Nix from the Tampa Bay Rays Friday for cash considerations.

The 31-year-old Nix batted .236 with three homers and 24 RBI in 87 games for the Yankees last season. He started 48 games at shortstop and 41 at third base along with four appearances at second base.

Nix is a career .218 hitter with 37 homers and 126 RBI in 425 contests for the Colorado Rockies (2008), Chicago White Sox (2009-10), Cleveland Indians (2010), Toronto Blue Jays (2011) and Yankees (2012-13).
