Desire, Olympia's first strip club at 3200 Pacific Ave., is set to open at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the owner of the business said Tuesday.

The business, which cleared its final hurdles with the city last week, expects to open with 30 to 40 exotic dancers and a staff of 14, longtime owner Levi Bussanich said.

There's also an adult video business on site.

The business will have a $10 cover charge and customers also are required to buy one soft drink for $10. It is not allowed to serve alcohol.

After Bussanich announced his plans for a strip club at the end of January, including a two-day hiring period, the response was overwhelming, he said.

The announcement attracted about 160 applicants during that two-day period and since then the business has collected 250 to 300 applications for all positions, including dancers, Bussanich said.

On Friday, the strip club is open 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.
