Former Lincoln High School teacher Meredith Powell, charged in February with crimes involving sexual misconduct with three students, is facing a new criminal charge related to another alleged incident in her classroom.

Pierce County prosecutors say that on March 25 a fourth Lincoln boy came forward to police. Powell is due in court Tuesday for arraignment on the new charge of sexual misconduct with a minor in the second degree.

The 24-year-old former math teacher pleaded not guilty Feb. 7 to two counts of third-degree child rape and one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Court documents say the fourth boy was a 17-year-old Lincoln junior who sought after-school help with his math work in 2013.

According to court documents:

The boy said he needed help to improve his grades, and said he would do anything.

Powell asked: “You’ll do anything?” She then reached over, unzipped the boy’s pants and touched his penis. She also reportedly told him: “This stays between us.”

The boy’s mother saw news accounts of Powell’s arrest in February, and asked her son about them since he'd had Powell as a teacher. He then told his mother what had happened.

Powell resigned her position at Lincoln after the initial charges were filed, and surrendered her state teaching certificate.
