Now open: Flying Boots and Wings in the Lincoln neighborhood

The Flying Boots Cafe and its neon sign on 38th Street near Lincoln High School went dark July 27.


The tabletop jukeboxes survived and so did the old neon sign, but say so long to the old cafe menu at Flying Boots and Wings. The longtime Tacoma haunt reopened as a 21-and-older bar over the weekend.

Flying Boots operated for 75 years at its 38th Street location in the Lincoln neighborhood until it closed in 2013. That closure came with a bit of a ruckus after patrons took restaurant mementos the last night of business. The business also was vandalized after it closed. (Read more in this story)
