GO Arts: Museum Walk next Wednesday for Downtown On the Go’s Walk Tacoma series

Tacoma News TribuneApril 7, 2014

You can check out Tacoma’s Museum District on foot with Pierce County executive Pat McCarthy next Wednesday in the second Walk Tacoma event for the year: the Museum Walk. Sponsored by transportation advocacy group Downtown On the Go, the Walk Tacoma series highlights different areas of Tacoma’s downtown twice a month through spring and summer to encourage locals to walk more, enjoy the outdoors and explore downtown. The series is now in its fifth year.

From 5:15-6:15 p.m. April 16 McCarthy and DOTG members will lead the 2.5 mile walk from the Children’s Museum at 15th Street and Pacific Avenue highlighting six downtown museums, including Tacoma Art Museum, the Washington State History Museum and the Museum of Glass.

Participants are invited to stay for a social afterward at Anthem Coffee and Tea (1911 Pacific Ave.) at 6:30 p.m.

DOTG’s first Walk Tacoma event last month saw 250 participants, coordinator Meagan Kula said in a press release. Upcoming walks will take place on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from April through August. Free maps of the routes are available at Downtown On the Go (950 Pacific Ave, Suite 300) and at many downtown businesses. For more information see downtownonthego.org.
