Staff writerApril 8, 2014

A fire badly damaged a commercial building in Kent early this morning, according to the Fire Department.

Investigators are trying to figure out what started the blaze in the 26100 block of 78th Avenue South.

A passerby called 911 about 12:15 a.m. to report seeing smoke and flames. Crews from Kent Fire, Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire & Rescue and King County Medic One responded and had the fire out by 1 a.m.

No one was injured. The building was apparently being used for storage at the time of the fire.
