Man pleads not guilty in fatal Pierce County hit-and-run

Staff writerApril 10, 2014

A man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he hit and killed a Tacoma man in a head-on crash last month and then fled.

Jason Hoke, 32, is charged with vehicular homicide, failing to remain at the scene of a fatal crash and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Court commissioner Meagan Foley set his bail at $500,000.

Douglas Davis, 57, died in the March 3 wreck at Waller Road East and 46th Street East.

The vehicle Hoke allegedly was driving hit Davis’ head-on.

According to court records, witnesses told sheriff’s deputies Hoke was staggering around the scene, before he walked away. He might have broken ribs in the wreck, the records show.

Hoke was arrested in Longview last month and brought to Pierce County.
